17th Year: Montclair Public Library’s The Little Read

Celebration of Literacy Through Montclair Community and Free Reading Events

The Montclair Public Library invites the community to attend the 16th annual “Little Read,” a series of events where guest readers climb into the iconic big red chair and read stories aloud to schoolchildren and families. This celebration of literacy encourages sharing stories, building community, and cultivating a love of reading. Funds raised through sponsorships, organized by the Montclair Public Library Foundation, support children’s programming at the Library throughout the year, including the Summer Reading program.

The Little Read was established in 2009 as a free children’s story time marathon to bring together Montclair neighbors, writers, local heroes, and celebrities in a town-wide celebration of literacy and community.

This storytime marathon, held to highlight the importance of reading aloud to young children, will take place from October 14 - 17. More details will be available soon!

"By bringing together neighbors, authors, and local leaders who share their love of reading, we’re showing our children that they matter and that they belong to a caring, connected place – Montclair – that’s invested in their success. And through sponsorship of the Little Read, community partners, including The Tutor Shack of Montclair, make children's programming at the library possible all year round."
- Mary Packer, Executive Director of the Montclair Public Library Foundation.
