Children are born knowing how to teach themselves by playing. They are naturally wired to observe activity around them, explore and manipulate objects, and imitate what they see. In Music Together® classes, we don’t teach the children. We model for them.
Sometimes parents are tempted to try to get a child to play along with the group or to show their child how to play an instrument the “right” way, but this can hinder learning. When the children see us grown-ups singing, dancing, and playing, they will want to play too. No matter if you don’t sing like a Broadway star, you can still play and have fun. Then you can watch them teach themselves
